beginner's mind

Shoshin, or beginner's mind, is approaching new things without allowing preconceived ideas influence your learning. It helps you view things for what they are and not what we expect them to be. Today, I am making a conscious effort to approach everything presented to me with a beginner's mind and see what arises. And I will not hold any expectations of what this day will be like...to the best of my ability.

Love this. I started back to meditation last week and we talked about how non-verbalized expectations really sabotage our thoughts.

On the day I posted this, I started working with a new client and I let go of any preconceived ideas I had about him. When I faced him with beginner's mind, the session went great.

Thank you. I will keep this word in mind today. I try to live life this way, but I didn't know there was a word for it.
