r.i.p. r.m.n.

Goodbye, Rocky Mountain News print edition.

Today was the final printing of the first newspaper in Colorado
and April would have marked the 150th year.

What a sign of the times.

a note to you... yes you

count down

Two and a half weeks until I can donate whole blood again. Who's with me?

howard jones

ouch ouch... ouch!

Despite my recent improvement in health via a vigorously consistent yoga practice and healthy eating plan, my upper spine is causing havoc on my whole body. It amazes me how a slight misalignment can throw everything off. My energy is sapped, my my hip joints and right shoulder are aching and my muscles are knotting up. Yoga and deep, mindful breathing is helping but alas, it does not appear to be enough.

So, what to do? The rack? Hang from a cliff to allow gravity to readjust me? Have heavy-set elves walk on my spine? Decisions, decisions, decisions! Any ideas?

Got a DVD version of a classic yoga video that I wanted.

Drove 80 miles to the end of the Island .

Hiked around the trails for 2 and 1/2 hours.

Actually SAW the Montauk Lighthouse and Camp Hero ("The Montauk Project")
(I have only live on the Island for a combined 30 plus years, so I guess it was about time.)

Had sushi at one of my favorite sushi restaurants that looks like a dive but has fantastic food.

Came home and did yoga.

The perfect Valentine's Day.
Thanks Groovy!

this day in history...

February 4th, 1991 was the first time I ever donated blood......and passed out (which made me miss my lunch period! grrrr!!!) . Since that time, I have gone through bouts of donating totaling 15 donations. (Proud card carrying gallon club member) March 14th with be donation number 16. It is amazing to think that one of those pints may have saved a person's life, another may have made someones surgery possible, still another may have been used in research... and, the conspiracy theorist part of me believes, that another was used in some crazy government experiment involving cloning and there is a whole army of Melissa's roaming the Earth... okay, no, not really...

Give blood.
Start an army of YOU!
Ha!

seesaw

I am feeling immensely better after being sick, but these past couple of days I have been in my head, reeling around thoughts of what to do next. That antsy "I want to be working towards a serious goal" has permeated my very core (again). Perhaps a nice hike (this weekend?) will help clear my head and organize my thoughts.

ugh

I have been mad sick all weekend. Spent most of it in bed and am feeling slightly better today. Now my energy lull of last week makes sense. I must have been trying to fight this nasty little bugger off, but alas and alack, it won. I will be heading to work, but I'm going to cancel most of my end of day appointments to try and get back into bed as soon as possible. At least I am on the mend. I should be back to my full self again soon.
